New TOYOTA lettering.
And yes the GT badge is an original not a reproduction. That was hard to fine and expensive.

Going to make a couple of small additions to the car. Very subtle and period correct.
These are a few shots from last summer and fall before I sold her.

Thanks
No this is a 1973-ST coverted to a flatlight GT clone. Take a close look at the drivers side rear pillar note the fuel tank cap.
I thought about swapping in a 71-72 trunk fllor and feil tank along with the rear panel ah too much work. |

Yes Filipinos like old school Celica's, Corolla's Lancers, Colt etc. and Sprinters among others. For us "older guys that were around these cars in Manila back in the 70's and 80's they bring back memories of simplier times. During those days these were the cars to have and Celica's in the Philippines were pretty rare. Most came in through the U.S. Military bases that were there at that time and were right hand drive. Some were directly imported from Japan. In the big picture they were rare back then.
They were like the 55-57 Chevy Bel Air or Cuda's Camaro's of that era to us in the Philippines. Also during that time martial law was in effect and with that came stiff import duties around 200% in taxes on top of the purchase price. It got expensive!
Most of the old school Filipinos I know here in the states say the same thing these are cars they either had, and if so were very fortunate to have the means to buy one or like most lusted after. There were many Japanese surplus shops and 2TG and 18RG could be had for a song back then. Yes good times plenty of parts not to mention TRD racing components and suspension products. If I had half of the stuff I had then now oh boy.
The ones I know of here are babied and enjoyed on weekends etc. babied like a prize that they are. I always smile when I drive my car it brings back good memories from younger days. I like the flat lights, long style hood flutes, and smaller front turn signals with the smooth front and rear bumpers as well hence my 73 converted to 71-72 specs. The bubble lights are liked by many as well. It is a personal thing is all.

While A60 Celicas have been growing in popularity in recent years, the first-gen A20 has been a staple of old school Toyotaku. Anthony Vergara’s 18R-G swapped daruma is absolutely stunning in its simplicity. No loud colors or crazy stance necessary, although we do wish in our heart of hearts that he’d rock a Japanese wheel. But we’re just picking nits here, the car is simply gorgeous
With the above I have been sourcing a set of these wheels.
Once I get a set I will have a set of "Japanese " wheels for my car. The red car is not mine just to give an idea of how it will look with the TRD Tosco 13x8 wheels. I decided aginst cutting and flaring my car so I can run these and go back and forth with the Panasports.

I have decided to just leave Snow White as she is.
I like the 13x7 panasports they tuck in under the lips nicely no rubbing.
Working on the A/C system now. |

Picked these up hard to find. Need to polish them yet.
Also one of these!
